Between the 25th and 29th of July 2025, the United States’ 47th President; Donald Trump made a short visit to Scotland, UK, opening the new Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, NE Scotland. An array of U.S. military assets were deployed to the county in support of President Trump. Over 20 USAF C-17A’s were recorded arriving at RAF Lossiemouth and at both Aberdeen and Prestwick International Airports. The aircraft transported Presidential helicopters from Marine Corps Air Facility, Quantico as well as  various support equipment. Rotary assets were deployed from the US Army’s stronghold in Ansbach, Germany, in the form of 5x 214th Aviation Regiment CH-47F Chinook to Aberdeen. The USMC HMX-1 ‘Nighthawks’ provided 3 ‘whitetops’: 2x VH-3D Sea King to Aberdeen and 1x VH-92 Patriot to Prestwick. Heavy USAF fixed wing assets came in the form of the Presidential Airlift Squadron’s (AS) VC-25A and a 1st AS C-32A from Joint Base Andrews. An E-4B from Offutt was also present and deployed to RAF Mildenhall.

Arriving at Prestwick Airport on the 25th, POTUS travelled by road and remained at his Turnberry Golf estate in Ayrshire. The deployed VH-92 was not used during its time in Scotland and acted as a reserve. President Trump then relocated North, positioning up to RAF Lossiemouth aboard the VC-25A. From here, a fleet of rotary assets (2x VH-3D & 4x CH-47F) provided transport to and from his new golf estate in the North East as ‘NIGHTHAWK FLIGHT’ . On the 29th, President Trump departed back to the USA aboard the VC-25A from RAF Lossiemouth. I have personally been after images of the HMX-1 VH-3D Sea King’s for a number of years. Being able to document them in Scotland before they are retired was nothing short of special!
